The shooter lane is one of the areas of a pinball machine that is subject to the most wear and tear. During every game, the ball travels through this area and, over time, can leave visible marks on the shooter lane.
A shooter lane protector safeguards this very area against further wear and tear and helps to maintain the condition of the playfield in the long term.We’d be happy to advise you on whether a suitable shooter lane protector is available for your pinball model and, if you wish, we can also fit it for you.
The transparent protector is inserted into the shooter lane. It can be replaced or removed at any time.
Why does the shooter lane wear out?
The ball passes through the shooter lane with every game. Over the years, this causes wear and tear due to friction, dirt particles and constant contact with the pinball.
This is where the first signs of wear often appear, particularly on machines that are played frequently. A Shooter Lane Protector protects this area and can significantly reduce further wear and tear.
A shooter lane protector specifically protects the area around the ball launch point.
If you wish to protect the entire playfield, a Playfield Protector may also be a useful addition. We’d be happy to advise you on the various options available for your pinball model.
Playfield Protector
Matching protectors are available for many current pinball models (including Stern Pinball and Jersey Jack Pinball, amongst others).
The Shooter Lane Protector is made from a precisely fitted, transparent plastic. Depending on the pinball machine model and the angle of the light, it may be visible upon close inspection. However, during normal play, it is usually barely noticeable.
As the Protector is simply placed over the bullet ejection port, it can be removed very easily and without leaving any residue.
Playfield protectors and shooter lane protectors protect different areas of the playfield. Whether it is advisable to fit a shooter lane protector as well therefore depends on the specific pinball model and the design of the existing playfield protector. We’d be happy to advise you on which combination is suitable for your machine.
